daddy don't say

daddy don't say

A Poem by Tenten

Violent reaction

to paternal warning words

I’ve been the ‘mature adult’

for too long

So don’t you

            Yes you!

Tell me what to do

            say

            or how to act

You where not involved

in ‘raising’ me

in the high point creation

of true character

and developed habit

So don’t you dare

            try to play

‘Daddy’s Little Girl’

with me

I’m too old for need of

your approval in my life

Stick around though

            because

whoever said

A daughter needs her father

Wasn’t completely wrong

in that area of life
