A Poem by Chad Halle

  When I was younger I
was under
the impression that you'd live
forever,
but I made out a check
to reality
after your first heart-attack, which
gave you mortality.
It was all downhill from there;
the pills,
the fatigue
and the pain...
and nothing,
nothing
was
the same.
It's like that hospital sucked
out all the life from you...
but you never forgot
my name, and I'll never forget
you,
and even though you may not be around
to say it to, you know
you were always there for us, and
now you'll
always be here
in our hearts.
