The path forward

The path forward

A Poem by Chandradhish Ghosh

There was light when I started walking

But the clouds played games with the Sun,

On they went, with their games

Until orange was painted over sky.

Orange was greeted,

With glee from all,

Until it brought down the dark

I was stuck on the road

With everyone else,

Not knowing which direction to go.

The dark was black

With no touch of white

I fiddled in my pocket to find some light

Until my hands felt the box of match

I struck and the match lit up

Only for a moment and then off it went

Alas that was my last match

All that remained was darkness

I shouted right, I shouted straight and then I shouted left,

The sound came back from centre and right,

But not from the direction of left!

And my path was lighted.
