metronome

metronome

A Poem by Marie Harrison
"

a poem about the pressures to conform

"

metronome

keeping me in perfect precision

with the demands

of the world

to conform

to stay

in the restricting confines

of this awkward box

while the

world

twirls

Interesting image - yes, a metronomic life must be pretty constraining.. I wouldn't like to swing my kit back and forth at different speeds at the whim of another...

I like to dominate lol

This poem is about instruments in life that make us conform to society's demands. Such as watches, alarm clocks, mirrors, breath analyzers, scales, vision tests. Why should we live under these demands?

I like the apt and neat succinctness, and the discrete alliteration. Nice :)
