One More Slice of Pie

One More Slice of Pie

One More Slice of Pie

Why can't the days of the past
last forever?

I miss sitting on my Grandfather's lap
and holding his hand as we walk our dog.

Miss watching him cook in the kitchen
and watching cowboy westerns on the telly with him.

If I could just hear my Grandfather and my Grandmother
argue with each other one more time, it would be like a
slice of peach pie.

We could go swimming at the lake like
we used too, go fishing at the fishing hole
like all of the other times. You could
sneak a fish on my pole, like you used to do.

The whole family could pile into
yout station wagon and you could
wheel us around, showing us
the twinkling Christmas lights.

If I could just hear your worn out
old bragging stories one more time.

Grandpa, I wish you could
kiss me goodnight and tuck
me in bed just one more time.

A lovely collection of wistful images. It shows that he's still there in a way. I obviously don't know him but from the picture you paint I'd guess that he would appreciate this piece.
