lone wolf

lone wolf

A Poem by Marie Harrison
"

A poem about me.

"

lone wolf

from my delivery
to this earth
when I descended
safely from birth
until these final hours
my journey of
lonesomeness
has never ended

in a crowded room
a medieval tomb
or an intimate room
where loved ones gather
my unattached persona
keeps me feeling aloof
wherever I roam

perhaps it was the weeks
of being apart from my
mother after birth

or the birth order
of my mother and
her unique family
history

regardless
of the reasons
all of my days
I've felt like
the lone wolf
wandering
about a deserted
highway ready for
a warm den and a friendly
pack to call my own

throughout this
active life of mine
I've always yearned
to be held close
to a warm beating
heart by the loving
arms of a gentle
soul and
peacefully
rocked
like a
fragile
infant
baby

Very beautiful in its sadness. The longing to be loved and accepted, to be part of a family group or group of some sort.

The last stanza is beautiful, full of need and warmth of wanting to be loved, held like a child, to capture all missed things of infancy.....being a lone wolf brings its own wisdom , and you have written a beautiful piece.
