A poem about running from yourself.

 

On The Run

Every day I long to know myself,

To know what it is that I run from

When I read a book or

Watch television.

 

What am I trying to escape from?

How long will I have to run

Before I decide to look myself

In the eye and stop hiding?

 

I’m ready to infest myself

In the bloody gore of who I am,

I’m ready to explore who this

Girl is that I keep running from.

It’s her that I want to know more,

Not the boy next door.

Reality, that is what we run from when there is no escape... and if we took the time to run towards it we would see it is not so bad...
