Gentleman's Call

Gentleman's Call

A Poem by Marie Harrison
"

A personal ad.

Gentleman’s Call

Currently seeking

A confident,

Intelligent and

Willing companion.

Who runs like

A wild stallion

And doesn’t

Drink gallons

But sports

A six pack

And a firm

And full

Backpack.

A Godly man

Who’s yearning

To show up

To take part

In a romantic waltz

With me from

Start to finish

Showing lots of

Heart throughout

The duration

In and out

Of the dark.

One who smiles

Like the sun

And likes

To have lots

Of fun and who knows

Lots of puns and how

To be a great

Companion.

I’m seeking one who

Will stand-up for me

And let people know

That I’m his number one

No matter what comes.

A man who seeks a life

Of adventure and

High adrenaline time.

One whose mind is open

To the unknown

With a heart of

Hope and passion.

To take my hand

And lead me to beaches

Of fine sugar white sands

And frolic with me with

The dolphins and the

Manatees and will

forever kiss

And tease me,

One who knows

Just how to

Please me.

I’m looking

For a gentleman

Whose heart is true

To peer into

My eyes of Blue.

`

One Who would like

To tenderly spoon

With me for

A lifetime

Of dreamtime.

Drop me a line

If it sounds like

You’re this kind

Of guy.

I promise

I’ll make it worth

Your dime and time.

I’ll make you a pie

Of key lime and will

Be your sublime siren

For a lifetime of

Sunshine smiles

And ecstasy sighs.

When I saw 'personal ad' in the description, I didn't expect something so sentimental because of the silly ones for the contest. Was a nice surprise.

Fun to write, and fun to read. This bounces along with a bubbly cadence that had me smiling the entire way through. Your use of internal rhyme here is impeccable, and accounts for the lighthearted nature of this poem... where do I sign? Hahah, well done Marie.

For love to last we need that intellectual and emotional stimulation to compliment the physical desires... very nicely done.

Seventh Stanza "And lead me to a beaches", you should remove the "a". I truly enjoyed reading this, it's out of the box and fresh. I think everyone needs hope, without it you just fall into that line of "acceptance". Great poem, I wish you the best.
