Tonight I Grieve

There’s a hole in my heart tonight

It’s burning within my soul

It’s dark and heavy where it rests there’s no light

My soul tonight is so low,

Nothing glows where it grows.

Drowning in a deep torrent of grief

One where there no sign of relief

I yearn to be with a life that was too brief

To me death now has mystique

To one day join the one I love

I must have faith and believe.

Until then I’ll remain behind in disbelief

Time was too short for us, too hard to keep

Now I cherish what I had and yearn to make the

Most of what I have because in God I believe.

I look up to the Lord even when I grieve.

Author's Note

Marie Harrison
Grief is always this way for me. It's a burning deep in my soul. I literally feels like a fiery inferno. It's this yearning to be close to the one I love. I yearn to cross over and sit with them and hold them while I grieve. I'm so sad that I'm apart from them. My heart just wais because I can't see them and touch them. I yearn to hear them too.

This poem flows into the heart line by line and swallows the sympathy trying to grow within us. Losing one in death is a terrible ordeal. The heart doesn't know how to mend to the broken spirit. But the brain issues hope and belief that all is not lost, all is not forgotten, especially with God. And that hope matches the grieving pain to alleviate us for another day, until that hope becomes a reality. Let your pen flow; for through it, you pour out the anxiety and pain that tries to build up day by day.

It's your belief that keeps you in the company of those you grieve.. in your heart they remain.. through the wind's whispers you will hear them... in the night's stars you will see them always in your heart. This can be seen through your beautifully spoken words.

I can feel your pain and turmoil through your words...these are feeling I can relate to and have felt strong with the loss of my mother and then a few months later my own dog. At least you still have faith and can turn to God for some comfort :)
