The Calm of Snow Falling

“The Calm of Snow Falling”

Where does the calm come

From when it snows?

It’s this euphoria of silence that’s

Louder than the roar of a freight train

But in a silent sound of loud

One that you can hear in a crowd

Or when you are alone

But always when it’s cold

It brings the world peace

Even when it’s

Cold underneath

It makes our teeth chitter clatter

As we squish squash

Around in the wet snow

It’s the delightful essence

Of snow as it’s falling

And swirling all round

Author's Note

Marie Harrison
It hardly ever snows in Atlanta and already we've had several snows. If we get snow, it's usually not until March! It's wonderful. Today I walked to work in the snowfall. It was so amazing. Makes me homesick!
