My Time

Many days go by

I wish that I could die

If only it was my time

I wish I may

I wish I might

Death was the plight

I had in my sights

Now those

Wishes have lifted

They drifted

Away like a red kite

Now I smile happily

At my cotton candy life

As I peacefully sigh

But Cindy’s battle

 Is about to end

I only wish I could send

Her the rest of my life

In order to keep

Hers from ending

If I could give what

I have left to lend

Not that I want

My life to end

Cindy

She’s a mother

A wife

A sister

Someone too special

For the world to lose

I’m nothing to the wind

No one would care if I end

If only it was my life to lend

Cindy, she’ll leave

So much behind

It’s such a crime

If she’s to die like this

If only she could

 Have more time

If only it was my life

I’d lend her mine

Because my

Cousin Cindy

Is so kind

Author's Note

Marie Harrison
My cousin has been sick for a few years now. She's been so courageous. I wish there was something I could do to help her live longer. She's so special and she's been so brave. Maybe the doctor's will save her again. I got bad news on Christmas Day. My thoughts and prayers have gone out to her. She's fierce and strong, a true power source!

now I am sure that is not true... such selflessness in your words, giving life for another is the ultimate sacrifice... I will send a prayer up for Cindy.

That's not good at all mortal, and I know exactly how you feel, as you know my cousin is in a very similar situation; but I know that both yours and mine are incredibly brave! This is a wonderful, very passionate poem and I'm glad to have read it. It's beautiful. Keep up the good work mortal!~

Oh dear me, so much sadness grieves me, my heart such as it is goes out to you, and your beautiful cousin, may the very peace of God enfold her till all pain has gone away and she awakens to a bright new day

Beautiful words, beautiful intentions .. your poem is both prayer and tribute to your darling cousin's courage. It's terrible to watch someone you love suffer, done it twice, it makes one feel so helpless, so useless.

Adding my prayers to yours.
