Juxtaposition

Juxtaposition is a poem written for my Line Series (which I may or may not post, depending on how grey the day), about the third in the Series I believe. It's a romance, but lighthearted.

 

I do love her,

This creature beside me.

We’ll be together all our lives,

Like one of the same.

 

But when she is next to me

Her hip pressed to mine,

I feel…inadequate.

She is art.

 

The Arc De Triumph.

The Gateway Arch.

The beautiful hemicycle.

Perfection at its height.

 

She is a gem,

Rare and precious to behold

And I am a used bench.

Still, she assures me,

 

Never could we fit better.

Oh the crescent moon

We make together

Which so captures light.

 

Apart, she tells me

We are commonplace.

But together

We are exceptional.

 

And so I may love her

This lovely curvy creature,

I somehow managed to snag.

How lucky, the line met the curve.

you have to see the other side of beauty. We know what is ugliness and so we know the value of beauty. You have to appreciate both. I have a tell-tale feeling you wanted to imply with your "the line met the curve". Line is plain, curve is beautiful. We adore pulchritude and so we know how banal plain is. Yes, appreciating both, this should be the human nature.

Pros: I like how you give Art human qualities and talk about it as if it were another human like yourself. Despite the lack of rhyming, it flows quite nicely. The speaker seems in awe of Art, seems to feel inadequate, but is thankful nonetheless.

Cons: None that I can see.

Overall: Good poem :)
