Broken

Broken

A Poem by Chloe Harris
"

It tells a story about a girl in a toxic relationship with someone she thought she could trust.

"

She was broken

She had been hurt

She had been used one too many times

Her trust for people had gone away

But she always seemed to give in to easy

The one time she let her guard down she will never forget

He told her he loved her

He said he would never hurt her

She gave him her trust but it went down hill

She texted him and said how depressed she felt

How she felt worthless like no one loved her

What she didn’t know was he was making notes of all these texts

She told him all of her secrets

All those times she hated herself and everyone around her

And he still acted like he cared

She thought everything was going great until it was time to go back to school

Every time she turned she heard people laughing and talking about her

She didn’t understand

The people who she thought were her friends had turned their backs

Until she heard what they were saying

“Here comes the depressed freak.”

“I can’t believe she said that to him!”

The boy she thought loved her

The boy she trusted had broke the trust

He told all of her secrets to everyone

She was never the same

When someone breaks your trust, it is the worst feeling in the world. I can remember my teen years; they were so confusing, so full of conflicting emotions, the child struggling to become the adult, the heartbreak of betrayal.

You need to add nothing to this poem; it speaks the language of your age, and that is what counts more than full stops, commas, or bits that need fixing. That all comes with experience, for now, simply write what you feel.
