Three Times I Knew I Loved You

Three Times I Knew I Loved You

A Poem by Christa Lou
"

this december there were times, and i only picked three.

"

1. Then.

strange things happened. Happen. because there was. Is. magic in the wind.

you slipped into one of those coin chinks i call Nearly Never.

(but, and, why?) i knew you and i loved. Love. you.

2. Now.

my sentences are snowflake flurries and they melt messily

but this is me, this is the part of me that you’ve stirred up dancing like christmas lights

and this is the part of me that loves you. that’s all, really. all and All Of Me

3. Always.

that day we trampled dense mats of little starry flowers.

do you know what blossoms from winterweed herbs mean?

i’m not going to tell you because you leave me Clinging to Thee.

In Victorian floriology, chickweed (or winterweed) symbolises "I Cling to Thee" :)
