Incarcerated

Incarcerated

A Poem by Cassidy Mask

I lie in pits of despair

My arms wrapped around myself

All that holds me together

I turn my face away

From the darkness

But it holds me

Incarcerated

In its cold obsidian embrace

My eyes stare blindly

Afraid to close

Afraid of my own mind

Where the darkness

Is strongest

In the empty caverns

The deepest crevices

In the corners

Where dust coated

Cobwebs hang

In the dead air

The darkness

Stirs

Nameless

Faceless

But far from unknown

Obsidian? Very interesting word choice. At first I thought maybe you picked the wrong word but the more I thought about it the cleverness of your selection became apparent to me. I like the flow you gave the work, it has a nice cyclic feel to it.

Nicely done.
