The Writers Affliction

The Writers Affliction

A Poem by Cassidy Mask

I’m slipping through these streets

Slipping through these sheets

Of crumpled paper

I’m falling from these dreams

Falling from these streams

Of consciousness

I’m drowning in these tears

Drowning in these years

Of wishful thinking

I’m running from these hounds

Running from these mounds

Of discarded words

I’m imagining these cages

Imagining these pages

Of stories yet to come
