Nonsensical Roses

Nonsensical Roses

A Poem by Cassidy Mask

Thought you were free

Thought time had passed

Thought times had changed

But their still there

Nonsensical Roses

It’s in your blood

They whisper to you

Across the cobbled

Ground

It’s who you are

It’s what you are

You shut your ears to them

Nonsensical Roses

They wrap their thorny

Arms around you

Lying through their

Dagger teeth

Telling you invented

Secrets

Nonsensical Roses

Their soft petals

Are red as the blood

That drains from

Your face

As they hold you

Strangle you

Nonsensical Roses

They tell you what

You are

They breathe it in

Your ear

Taunting you

Killing you

Nonsensical Roses

Your eyes roll back

Your mouth gapes

Helplessly

Opening and shutting

Soundlessly

But there’s no mercy

There’s no escape

From maliciously

Nonsensical Roses
