See Me

See Me

A Poem by Cassidy Mask

I’m not what you think

I’m not who you want

Me to be

I can’t breath

Through this gathering

Smoke

I can’t see

Through these gathering

Thoughts

Let me go

Let me be

Your fingers are knives

Against my skin

Your eyes are rough

Like sandpaper

Rubbing me raw

As you stare

Me down

But I’m not what you want

Can’t you see

That?

Can’t you see

Me?
