Sorry I'm Not Enough...

Sorry I'm Not Enough...

A Poem by Cassidy Mask

When I hold you

In my arms

I can’t see your face

As you stare

Over my shoulder

But when you

Think I can’t see

I watch your face

Crumple

I watch the mask slip

And I know

It’s not enough

I’m not enough

But time passes

You’ll heal

I Promise

Just don’t do that thing

That you do

When I’m

‘Not watching’

The thing

Where your whole body

Goes slack

Your lips falling

Your eyes filling

Your wrists

Practically slitting

Themselves

It’s not the end of the world

Though it feels like it now

You’ll live

Maybe you’ll even be happy

Maybe one day

I’ll even be enough for you

Maybe one day…

You’ll even love me back

This is a very direct and longing poem for semi-unrequited love. Tis a very old theme in poetry, one I have ventured to a time or two myself. I am wondering ( and pardon the ignorance of an old man) But whatever on earth is CSS...please no CSS????? Well, I like the piece, it is very reflective while remaining simple. And it is well structured. Good work.
