Not Me Talking

Not Me Talking

A Poem by Cassidy Mask
"

This is not me talking...

"

This is not me talking

This is the music

This is not me thinking

This is my pen hand

So I’ll draw

A picture of autumn

Writing it in the

Blood

That gathers

            (Pools)

Around your heart

And I’ll paint

A picture of winter

Sketching it with the

Fingernails

That fall

            (Drop)

At your feet

And they’ll ask me

Who I am

‘Somebody’

I will answer

Writing the name

Nobody

At the top of the page

So they know to

Whom it belongs

This is my pen hand

This is not me thinking

This is the music

This is not me talking

So I’ll imagine

A picture of spring

Calculating it with the

Thoughts

That burn

            (Incinerate)

In your mind

And I’ll fake

A picture of summer

Drowning it in the

Flames

That grow

            (Develop)

Through your veins

Just remember

This is not me talking

This is the future

This is not me thinking

This is the past

This is not me

It’s the present
