![]() Murder By InsanityA Poem by Cassidy Mask
Bare foot I stroll Through this Summer town The warm rain Plastering My hair To my forehead In my right hand I hold a gun The black metal Glinting Menacingly As I twist it Between my fingers Stroking the trigger In my left hand I hold a sunflower It glows The brightest shade Of yellow As I hold it Under my nose Breathing in its scent Something makes Me stop And I turn To look behind me Staring at the Bloody footprints That meander Down the road A small smile Slips onto my lips As I tip up My feet To see the soles Which are The vivid red Of warm blood I carry on Walking Glancing Behind me Every so often To admire The beauty of my Creation But then I hear it The whine Of sirens As they race Toward me I frown Not wanting to stop Walking But a minute later They are upon me Policemen Jump from their cars Glittering guns Trained on my heart As they shout At me I frown again Shake my head And carry on Snaking up the road I feel the First bullet As it rips Through my shoulder The second Clips my ear The third and fourth Are aimed At my legs But I carry on walking Enjoying the biting Of the bullets The final shot Tears straight Through me The bullet Travelling right Through my heart And suddenly Against my will I find myself stopping My legs No longer moving And then the pavement Embraces me Its hard, wide arms Wrapping themselves Around me The second to last Thing that I hear Is a man’s voice Asking me my name The last thing I hear Is my answer ‘Insanity’
