LoveHate

LoveHate

A Poem by Cassidy Mask

His hands

Lace a cage over his eyes

‘I thought you wanted this.’

He pleads.

As if it’ll make any

Difference.

She just sits there,

An ugly part of her

Wishing it could reveal

Just how little

She cares.

But that’s not possible,

He’d never understand.

‘Explain.’ He begs

And it’s pitiful,

It makes her hate him

More.

(If that were possible)

Her fingers

Lace a cage

Around his pretty neck

And she watches

Him writhe.

Her eyes are

Gleeful

As he falls still

She releases his neck

Running her fingers

Up into his hair.

Her lips trace

The imprint of her hands

Until she reaches

His ear.

I love you.

She spits the words,

Her ragged whisper

Dripping spite

As she lets him fall.

His frozen face

Stares emptily at the

Ceiling.

He looks almost

Confused.

(He’d never understand.)
