All Those Years

All Those Years

A Poem by Cassidy Mask

All those years and

You never asked me

What it was

I loved about you.

You just took it for granted,

It never surprised you.

Now I’m watching you

Dismiss the things

I always loved.

And I wonder,

With a sudden sickening clarity

Why I ever believed

That I loved you.

The answer comes instantly.

I followed your own

Assumption.

(Now I curse the sky

For the years I lost

To your vanity)
