The Cost Of Kindness

The Cost Of Kindness

A Poem by Cassidy Mask

I calculate the cost of kindness

And decide you’re not worth

The loss you’ll cause me.

Because (I’m too much like her and)

I’ll make you mad.

Tear you apart.

And it’ll hurt (me).

To watch you

Getting left behind.

I calculate the cost

Of making you mine.

And decide you’re not worth

The risk.

Because you’re breakable

And I’m not used

To being careful where I

Throw my words.

And it’ll hurt (me)

If you crack.

I put my numbers

Into lines

That make the page

Beautiful.

And smile

As I forget you

(because I’ve found my resolve)
