Je Te Veux

Je Te Veux

A Poem by Cassidy Mask

I’ve got skin

Like newsprint

And it’s hiding me

In these shadows.

The dappled light

Makes me invisible

So you’ll never

Find me (Abandon me)

So you’ll never give me up.

And what if I didn’t want

The sacrifice?

The windows are

Smeared to opacity

With your blood

And I’m curled

Around these empty words,

Trying to hide my heart.

But my hands are wet

And when I wipe my tears

I smear my face

With the dripping crimson.

Until I can’t see past

The evidence

Of your mortality.

And all I see

Is red.

I’ve got skin

Like newsprint

And it’s hiding me

Amongst these sobbed sentences.

(I just want you

To forgive me )
