Breath Enough For Everyone

Breath Enough For Everyone

A Poem by Cassidy Mask

We were like butterflies

In a thunderstorm

With our wings all wet

Our lips making

Soundless shapes

Through the gloom

You turned to me

Defiance in every look

And said

God isn’t in the stifling pews.

He’s here

Beneath the sky.

Where there’s breath

Enough for everyone.

I looked upwards

And begged

For it to be true.
