Opaque

Opaque

A Poem by Cassidy Mask

The music fills my emptiness

The lack of any other.

We are all alone

Every second since birth

We revolve in our loneliness

We adore it, despise it

Fill it with meaningless

Encounters, relationships

That barely scratch the surface

Of our being

I am beyond reach

I sit hunched behind a glass

Made opaque with running water

And I know just how

Untouchable I am, I know exactly

My own distance

Disconnected from their mingling

Faces and gesturing hands

I caress the voices in my mind

The shards of self that sparkle

Dully like some broken entity

In my head

I kiss each one and whisper

The aching truth

That I adore this solitude

Every painful second

And I cannot let it go.

....

Wow?

I love those first two lines, 'The lack of any other.' Such a perfect discription!
I love this as well, 'The shards of self that sparkle/Dully...' such a great image.
Also, I like how there isn't much punctuation, so all the different thoughts and emotions role into one, which intensifies the feelings of pain and confusion... xx
