The Three Of Us

The Three Of Us

A Poem by Cassidy Mask

So serious.

We couldn’t follow

Your frowning brow

Your whispered words.

So soft.

We couldn’t touch

Your down-turned lips

Your fisted palms.

You held yourself

In the way of

A man on the edge.

Our limbs reflected

Yours, the rigid

Balance, the twist of

Knotted fingers.

You were all we

Had left to lose.

I love the first two stanzas, with the same form, it's really powerful for some reason. And then the last two lines, it's like a punch in the throat or something. x
