America is Everywhere

People come for different reasons.

No two people are the same.

They take perspectives and possessions,

their cultures and their names.

America is two men, waiting to get married.

America is the soldier, who has just been buried.

America is the protests, though we may not agree.

The right to stand up for our rights allows us to be free.

America is everywhere, we see it everyday

in the hearts and minds of people

whether white or not, straight or gay.

Though we complain when things don’t go our way,

America, I’m here to stay.
