Carousel

Carousel

A Poem by Ivory

Written for a contest a while ago

"

Exhausted and confused
I look for answers.
Nothing comes to mind.
I'm trapped on a carousel.
Concentric, rhythmic circles
spoil my stomach,
I must shut my eyes.
Carnival melodies
Blaring above me,
Head is throbbing,
uncontrollable sobbing.
I realize my soul has been robbed,
by the same person who promised to protect me.
I'm still compelled to return to the false safety,
of what I once knew.

The ride screeched and halts;
maybe all that I'm feeling now, is my fault.
Too afraid to move;
when I got on,

I knew it would lead me right back to you.
And there you are waiting,

Two tickets in hand.
Foolishly,

I take the bait.
Here we go again...
