Scars

Scars

A Poem by clookie1232
"

My father and I don't have the best of relationships. This was just a late night release of emotion.

"

I know he loves me and I love him too

That was never the question

Consumed by his career, he never showed that love

I was treated not as a son, but as a soldier

Never feeling the warmth that I so longed for

Only feeling the cold of disappointment

I was never enough

I tried but he never saw

Things I did wrong always outweighed the good

Disrespectful is the word I heard most often

I was the problem and the scapegoat

Problems cause stress causes anger

His anger caused tears

I needed to leave

I was hurting but he was blind

My pain made scars that bled

With nothing left to give, I left

Never looking back

I had to move on

One day I hope, he will find me

This is free verse, so please don't grill me on the fact that it doesn't have any rhyme scheme or anything. This was just a poem that I hope maybe someone else can have a connection to. I know I'm not alone out there. Criticism and comments are greatly appreciated. Please no conflict resolution stuff though. I just want to focus on the writing.
