Trench

Trench

A Poem by Cocoacandy

Why must this life cause so much pain and suffering?

Constantly sitting on the edge, ready to fall?

Someone is always around to push you into the trench,

Bury you alive and hide your screams.

Surprisingly enough, not many reciprocate,

ready to catch you, holding a spade to uncover you.

Unsure how to feel, you capture your tears in a jar,

Willing them to change, into rainbows and sunshine.

But they never seem to change, do they?

The dirt and grime from the trench beckons to you,

And the crowd wiling to push swells behind you.

Life! You always feel like that, but you got to ignore the growing crowd and move on.

Everyday we minions dig ourselves from the trench. Well Done!

this pulled me in from the first moment and assulted me with imagery and metaphors for life. it's too bad that brilliance like this can only be attained through hurt and heartbreak.

I don't now. Seem like life is going well then we get a kick in the head. Hard not to fall into the trench. Strong people can get out and find a reason to be alive. The poem story was strong and filled with disappointment. A very good poem. A wise person tries to find some joy even when swimming in s**t.
