Interview with a Vampire

Interview with a Vampire

A Poem by coin

It's taken a long time to know love when I feel it.

10th Grade, on the bus. I felt my heart sink and had no idea what to do with that

We became friends, her best friend my friend, her boyfriend my best friend even now

Staying in touch over the years with friendly emails, photos exchanged while I travelled eight countries

Opportunities missed to make something of those feelings

constant inspiration

this beautiful woman

I heard she was getting married some years back, and we decided to meet

I can't remember -was it her idea or mine?

but I come prepared

Prepared to make some case of how I'm going somewhere in my life

"I'm going to study medicine!" I lie, trying to sound impressive

She looks at me in the strangest way

and I can see it in her eyes...she's letting me go.

She has to, now

It's important to move on without this hope

We make casual chit chat and have a few laughs but soon enough its time for me to leave

I always could make her laugh.

We give each other a hug at the door

Have you ever had someone let you go with an embrace?

It's a punchline that'll break your goddamn heart
