The Knight

The Knight

A Poem by Austin
"

Don't let that person, that one wonderful person, slip away before you get the chance to tell them.

"
There once was a knight in dull, gray armor,
But nobody knew his name.

He hid behind a mask of gray,
he didn't tend to run or play,
And nobody knew his name.

He always did what should be done,
but never got much thought to fun,
And time went by, day by day,
but no one knew his name.

Nobody cared to visit him,
but it really didn't bother him.
The loneliness didn't give him shame
because he didn't give much thought to fun and games,
And nobody knew his name.

He stood alone,
He walked alone,
and he spoke when spoken to.
He didn't care for fame,
had no reason for shame,
but nobody knew his name.

He was a very thoughtful fellow,
And knew he had potential,
but didn't have much reason to say "hello,"
Because he knows people only hurt you,
And they treat you like poo.
It's simply a gamble of a game,
so nobody knew his name.

One day a dragon flew into town,
With a fiery eye and scales of brown.
He frightened the people flying round and round.
They thought he'd burn the whole place down.
The knights in shining armor ran.
Fear engulfed them, so they ran,
And the last one there, left to make his stand,
Nobody knew his name.

He pulled a sharp, sharp sword from the sheath.
And a fury came up from beneath.
An anger like no other.
A strength unseen.
This deep-seated power.
Adrenaline rushing.
The dragon landed
In the sand and the knight knew
Nobody knew his name.

Citizens turned around to see
the fight that would be happening.
They noticed, for the first time,
the dull gray knight.
About to fight.
The noticed, for the first time,
the knight.
"Who's this man?" shouted one,
but know the answer did none.
Nobody knew his name.

The knight dove,
and his silhouette glistened in the sun.
The peasants loved
his courage once the fight had begun.
It was amazing, as everyone saw.
They jumped and clapped about it all.
This hero fought through it all,
And once the dragon was killed,
they all knew he was skilled.
But he destroyed himself as well,
And he passed on once all was swell.

But still, nobody knew his name.
