Running Down the Grass

Running Down the Grass

A Poem by CosminDZS
"

a reoccurring nightmare

"

Schoolboys skipping class,
dressed in schoolboy attire.
Running down the grass,
along the bushes briar.

The others run far too fast,
"I won't make it, I'll be last!".
Shouted he, left in the past

Run, run can't you see
the lights all but burn out.
Others have left to flee,
not a sound, not a shout.

He can't find them, all is lost!
Was it he, who must pay a cost?
Out with light, in with frost.

Streetlights die as he passes,
out of breath he must retire.
Stopping there, on the grasses
In front of the bushes briar.

An excellently executed poem. its measure and pace are really sublime and the invokation of the images of desperation with the pace are fantastic!
