whiskey nights

whiskey nights

A Poem by brianna vega

I was always a fast one
first to bite
first to flee
i kept all the madness in my mind
only let it howl at night
surrounded by streetpunks and candle light
beer and the smell of smoke
 i sang out my soul
now in bars with others words
is where i find hope
oh karaoke queens all sing out to me
as i speak of fleshy things
And out side by the street lights
after the bar has close
is where i speak of home
So save me now
dear golden child
while this whiskey has me sold
pretty eyes you made me laugh all night
and in the street lights we spoke of home
of gods and demons
and heartbreaks long gone
into the whiskey night
we go

I've seen a lot of poems that are mostly confused by its own imagery but you seem to have a clear vision of what you want to convey to your readers. . .

You have a wild carefree soul. This desribes you well.some part exciting some part careless.all you.

Very sparely and starkly written, this one contains a lot of heavy, dark imagery about someone who is living on the margin. The last lines bring a temporary lightness and hope, but for the speaker in this one, it does not seem as though it will last long. A somber, well done piece.
