A First Love's Tribute

A First Love's Tribute

A Poem by Oydrin
"

She shared her name with the queen of Spain. For the first time, I, had loved in vain.

"
How do I get to know you love?
My friend with a million names!
From men who gave their souls to God,
To men with shallow flames

Never have you made you felt
To I, who sorely needs you
You claim: "I never left,"
Though you never made you known,

I call so often on you,
Oh! From time to time, I do
And time again there always comes
A lovely face or two,

Oh love have you no name,
Please, let me call you "Love that's mine"
But says you, "I'm for every one,
For everyone, I am."

And so, I sit much longer,
As another comes my way;
So different from the you I know,
And so wanted to stay

And gaining all the strength to go
And ask the stranger's name,
She says, "Hello old dear,i
t's me,
Your long forgotten flame

Gladly I rejoice,
As finally, we reunite
But there's this certain feeling
We no longer can ignite

So as we part again
In our dismay and discontent
I sit in silence weeping,
For the love that came and went.
