“Humans need not be indestructible,” she said. “They need only to be eternal, to fly on everlasting wings, to have an infinite amount of time”.

 

And his was a staircase that went only downwards, and he fell down it backwards, and he bruised himself on every step, and he never regained a single inch of what he lost.

 

And hers was a dreamless sleep, devoid of color and pain and joy. And all of life was a single moment, repeated over again and over again.
