Life for Me

Old poem I came across the other day. Written when I was 15 years of age. Another moment with what seems to be my favorite thing to write about, depression.

I just can't take the pain anymore
It's suffocating me
Drowning me
I have nowhere to turn
Every direction is filled with pain
Sorrow is my companion,
Pain is my friend
Smiling has become too hard
Why should I keep on living?
When all life does is suffocate me

This writing comes from a strain of miserablist tendency, not that it is a bad thing. However, try to elevate your pathos by making it celestial, because you writing about yourself is petty, but you writing about your soul, about the collective consciousness that we all share is poetry. My honest suggestion would be that you try and work on your imagery.

Since it's an "old" one - seems you found the strength and resolve to survive that bout. It is a strong depiction of what many deal with from their mornings til nights.
