Out of Sight, Out of Mind

Out of Sight, Out of Mind

A Poem by Emma Cathryn

With a smile so sweet
and eyes so bright,
your lips at the peak
of something out of sight.
There's no words to say,
since my eyes, for me, talk
on this never ending day.
My heart is unlocked.
Struggles to come,
yet places to go.
People to see,
things to know.
It's always been you,
and it's always been me.
But the dark clouds roll in,
I'm afraid,
and the worst is
how there's nothing to do
and nothing to say.
Words have fled our lips,
and our bodies start to sway
in time with the thunder storm
coming our way.
Nothing will do.
Do you still love me
the way I love you?
Weak and pathetic -
I'm nothing more
than an old sweat shirt.
Used and worn.
I'm just some dirt,
tattered and kicked.
If you look at me truly,
you won't give a s**t
about the girl who abuses
her own aches and pains
just towards herself,
but what does that gain?
Throw me away,
like everyone else.
But don't feel bad,
I'm content by myself.
I know that this,
that you,
was just a fairy tale -
a dream come true.
When the clouds break
and lovers reunite,
only then we shall wake
and be seen in the light.
Love is stronger
than those silly little fights,
but what do I know?
I'm out of sight,
out of my mind.
