Growing Up

Growing Up

A Poem by Emma Cathryn
"

Sonnet ^.^

"
I wish to go back to when we were small,
when we said sorry - it was everything;
when little kids dreamt of swinging sky high;
when the most perfect gifts were candy rings.

I miss when I was little and tiny,
the thing that was sucked was a lollipop;
when little things caused us to start crying;
when jumping in pools barely went ker-plop.

And yet, still, we all wanted to grow up;
when the playground was the only thing fun;
when 'hi best friend' was said instead of 'sup?';
when boardgames were played and prizes won.

Now, we look back and wonder where the time went,
when time, not money, was the real thing spent.
