Driven by Pain

Driven by Pain

A Poem by CrystalBluePersuasion

We all have our own brand of pain
The names are different, but the feelings the same.

Daddy left me, wife cheated on me,

Mom disowned me cuz I'm gay.

But how do we deal? By raising hell?
Breeding destruction and hate?
Or making a change?
Breaking the cycle, finding some new way

to open our eyes.

Therein lies...
the test of character.

You gonna help others? Or self medicate?

You gonna carry that anger? Let it eat you alive?

Or channel it creatively...
through a paintbrush, a song, or a good write?
Tired of it breakin me down,
Ready to break on through.

Gonna use it to better myself...
now how bout you?

Excellent poem. Puts the two contrasting ways of dealing with the pain. And yes, we should not let the anger feed on our mind and soul, rather use it for a better purpose. Great job! :)
