Lighting up the pot pipe

Or dropping the windowpane 

Chewing the magic mushrooms 

Chugging on the wine 

Later still a crack pipe 

A needle full of meth 

Line of heroin 

A bong, a hookah, a vape. 

Now tis the time for chocolate

Orgies of sugar and creme 

Clotting, clogging, slowing 

Making me waddle when I walk 

Trading one drug 

For another.

Addictions are funny things, they often trade one for another. There are just so many things to be addicted to. I like the progression and content of your poem.

Yes we do often trade one for another. Writing has always been an addiction for me and one that I am happy to indulge.

I have been clean 17 years at this point. Looking back at what I wrote when using, back then I rarely finished anything and my punctuation was horrible, LOL!
