Fixing Things

Fixing Things

A Poem by Brooke Wake
"

Done in the style of Emily Dickinson.

"

Fixing a waning perception,

One of mankind's more eminent faults,

Starts not with the taking away of things,

Held dear to those who would rather not.

Instead we must supplant and supplement,

A balance to be wrought, not fought,

Modern inventions are not monsters or saviors,

Commodities can help enlighten, resolve, or mock.

More real paper and pens, less screens,

More eyes on the horizon, not so much lowered toward our feet,

Solution not symptom, encourage the intelligent core,

Eyes wide open, learn to look, live each moment,

Sentient with every pore.

Lol I do set paper to pen but my penmanship is horrific:/ I have bits of paper everywhere to jot thought:) it’s funny what you pose as to the mandate of write I can see what you mean however most of the time these days I’m so rarely conscious of my motivation when I scratch & scrawl I like the voice in this nice to meet you:)

I think sometimes we write poetry to inspire and possibly adjust reality for the benefits we envision.

it is not our job to tell reality what is good for it...our job it to keep our house tidy
