losing yourself.

losing yourself.

A Poem by Cynthia Gelinas

She stood upon unsteady stilts
Tired eyes dry like the flower wilts
Violently shaken, she wearily tilts
As she quietly drifts away

Inward flows the salty sea
Realizations of there’s no where else she’d rather be
Pulled down under the surface and set free
As she quietly drifts away

Fiery fingertips run through her hair
Ignorantly charring her heart with care
Third degree reasons to stop and stare
As she quietly drifts away

Aches and pains mercilessly wake her
Tiny lead bullets mindlessly take her
Gun in the hand of the hearts who make her
As she quietly drifted away
