The End of October

The End of October

A Poem by Ben Taylor
"

Halloween.

"
Glowing globes with ghastly grins,
Pumpkins burning from within,
Demons hidden in suits of skeleton,
Traipsing as the witches screech at them.
Broomsticks shuffle secretly, silently,
Their owners' potions bubbling violently--
Cackling spirits run the streets,
Children scream in search of treats.
Un-dead fingers claw the black-top,
The lurching corpse of murd'ring crack-pot,
Softly, searching, calls of "braaaaiiiinssss",
A growing chorus, screams of pain--
Tormented mists from door to door,
Bags are filled with treats galore.
Fangs emerge and drink them dry,
Blood-red eyes from bushes spy
Costumed morsels marching by.

I really like the alliteration throughout, as well as the subtlety of the images. Great writing.

A good day for the children. Halloween allow the wild spirits to appear. Thank you for the good description of a good night on the last night of October. Thank you for a excellent poem.
