In Case

In Case

A Poem by Darling Dallas

I waited for you to come back.

I waited for you to come home.

I waited for you to change your mind.

I kept your jacket.

I kept your pictures.

I kept your things you left.

The pictures in my pocket,

all faded from the washer,

I can just barely see your face.

The food you said could wait until later,

but later never came.

I kept everything just in case.

Just in case you came back.

In case you didn't find the girl you were looking for.

In case you missed me.

In case you could love me again.

But that ins't the case.

In case you needed me.

In case you wanted me back.

In case you would love me again.

In case you didn't find who you wanted.

In case you missed my arms.

In case you missed my love.

But that isn't the case.

In case you loved me again.

But that isn't the case.

Most people suck. Sometimes it is good to be selfish. Nicely written.
