Space

A Poem by D.T.

We were a world of our own,

until the fire burned it all,

the flames went through,

and it was gone.

We both felt it headed towards our place,

I wanted to keep it safe,

you fought your way out,

I was left alone in space.

You wanted things you wouldn't accept,

when I had offered it was late,

so you left when you wanted,

this was always the play.

You were going to leave,

that's okay,

it wasn't a true thing,

just a game we would play.

I floated a while,

on my own in the sky,

it was dark and scary,

until I made a light.

I found a good space,

I hid away,

I had to take time to breathe,

I had to go away.

I asked why I hid,

from all I knew,

it was because I almost got destroyed,

destroyed by you,

But I caught my breath,

I found a way,

I made a light,

I created a new place.

This place is free,

it's mine and for me,

no one can hurt it,

or hurt me.

It is cool to find a safe place.
