Poet

Poet

A Poem by Dana Alsamsam
"

A poem about being a poet

"

I deny that I’m anything extraordinary.

Anyone can be a poet

If they hold the moments of their life

The right way.

Hold them tight enough, close enough.

I just happen to have discovered

this kind gift and savored its motherly givings.

And sometimes I don’t think I’m even a poet

Because the moments pass me by.

I have a lot to express,

But I’m not gifted enough

To catch the words as they drift like smoke

Through my fingers.
