Soiree

Soiree

A Poem by danalyn
"

On being alone

"

Wallflower, wilting a little

Small discussions and talking

Jokes and a casual flirt

Turns into a lonely petal on the ground

Rejection from a person you never knew

And the sense of loneliness

I cannot deny, deny still

The want to stay longer

For what?

To wander aimlessly

Listen to bits and pieces of conversations

From friends made before me

Shuffling awkwardly

Yet wishing to open my mouth

Form a connection, something

That goes beyond superficial

A possible chance for someone

New

Yet I stand here, or probably walk there

Discuss a bit, talk more

Wallflower detached from the cracks of the wall

But I know that, I won't be remembered

When I leave them entirely
